About The Product

Angry Unicorn is a pre-workout supplement made by Yummy Sports, priced at $59.99 on their website (we couldn’t find it on Bodybuilding or GNC.com).

It comes in 40 serving containers, in 3 different flavors – Berries, Rainbow Dust and Gummy Wormz (not sure why they added the z on the end there).

Anyway, we went for Berries flavor, as fruity pre-workouts usually taste better. And it wasn’t bad enough that we would throw up, but it also wasn’t tasty enough to enjoy it either…

We’ll tell you more about Yummy Sports, before analyzing Angry Unicorn’s nutrient profile in the next section.

Who Are Yummy Sports?

From what we saw from their website, Yummy Sports are a supplements company based in France or Canada.

We hadn’t heard of this company before reviewing their fat burner, beach ready – so in all honesty, we only know as much as their website tells us, which isn’t much.

Anyway, let’s get to the main event and take a look at which nutrients Yummy Sports have added into Angry Unicorn pre-workout.

Angry Unicorn Pre-Workout Ingredients Explained

Angry Unicorn pre-workout contains 6 ingredients overall, which is a good number; from experience, we’ve found that supplements containing over 10 ingredients are usually under-dosed and therefore ineffective.

For this reason, we were hoping to see optimally dosed nutrients inside Angry Unicorn Pre-Workout. However, from first glance, we can see that Citrulline Malate has been underdosed (we’ll explain everything in more detail later in this section).

We’ll take you through each ingredient inside Angry Unicorn Pre-Workout – so you can see how effective it really is.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know:

1-(4 Aminobutyl)guanidine Sulfate

Yummy Sports have tried their best to impress you here, by listing this ingredient by it’s ‘formal’ name. However, this is simply Agmatine Sulfate.

Simply put, this is believed to raise your nitric oxide levels (which could enhance your muscle pumps in the gym). However, studies have shown that it’s very unreliable at delivering this benefit.

In fact, Agmatine Sulfate has shown better results at reducing pain, as well as treating drug addiction and depression. For this reason, we don’t believe this is necessary in Angry Unicorn pre-workout.

1,3.7-trimethylxanthine

Again, Yummy Sports have tried to impress you by listing this ingredient under it’s fancy name. However, it’s still a very useful ingredient inside this product – 1,3.7-trimethylxanthine is basically Caffeine.

Caffeine is actually one of our favorite ingredients in pre-workout supplements; it’s the best ingredient for raising your energy levels, when dosed correctly (under 200mg per serving).

When Caffeine is dosed too highly, it can cause side effects such as jitters and energy crashes. Fortunately, Yummy Sports has added a good dosage (200mg per serving), which shouldn’t cause you these side effects.

We always advise that you consume under 200mg Caffeine per serving in pre-workouts, and Angry Unicorn pre-workout just about follows our guideline.

2-aminoethanesulfonic acid

Also known as Taurine, this is an organic acid containing sulfur (not bull urine like some people believe).

Anyway, it’s shown to help prevent cramping during exercise, but it hasn’t proven to boost energy levels; many mistakenly believe that it raises your energy levels, due to Taurine being contained in energy drinks, but this isn’t the case.

For this reason, while Taurine can be a useful ‘bonus’ ingredient – we never consider it to be essential in any supplement.

Highest-Rated-Pre-Workouts-This-Year

Citrulline Malate

Now, this is the best ingredient inside Angry Unicorn pre-workout; it’s proven to enhance your muscle pumps when dosed correctly, which is a great benefit of these types of products.

In case you’re unaware; muscle pumps do more than make your arms look bigger – it also helps to reduce fatigue and improve your muscular endurance in the gym.

But there’s a problem…Yummy Sports have under-dosed Citrulline Malate; the optimal dosage for this ingredient is 6,000mg per serving. However, there’s only 3,000mg in Angry Unicorn pre-workout (meaning it’s not likely to work).

Ultimately, this is a great example of why dosing nutrients correctly is so important.

Glycine

Glycine is an amino acid that’s shown to improve the quality of your sleep, as well as your cognition. However, this is better taken at night, and might actually negatively affect your gym session.

It’s not a key ingredient in any gym supplement, but if we were to add it into a product, it would be a Nootropic (although there are much better nootropic ingredients than Glycine too).

Methyl Ester

All you need to know about Methyl Ester, is that it’s a fatty acid. But we’re not sure why Yummy Sports has added this into Angry Unicorn pre-workout.

Basically, Methyl Ester is believed to promote fat loss – but studies have shown that it’s not even reliable at delivering this benefit.

Anyway, as fat loss isn’t a direct benefit of taking a pre-workout, Methyl Ester isn’t needed here. If you’re main goal is to lose body fat, then you’ll find fat burner supplements more effective.

Citrus Aurantium

We won’t waste time here; Citrus Aurantium is the worst ingredient you can find in pre-workouts and fat burner supplements (for future reference, it’s also known as bitter orange extract or synephrine).

Why? Because it’s known for causing numerous side effects and has been banned in certain nations such as the UK.

Ultimately, there’s no need to consume ingredients shown to cause side effects; there are plenty of safe tried-and-tested nutrients out there, so we advise sticking to those.

Side Effects

As we just mentioned, there’s 1 ingredient inside Angry Unicorn pre-workout that can cause side effects – Citrus Aurantium.

Basically, there’s quite a long list of reported side effects from people who have consumed Citrus Aurantium. So it’s no surprise that it’s been banned in countries such as the UK.

For this reason, we advise you to stay away from any supplement containing this ingredient.

Here’s the potential side effects from taking Angry Unicorn pre-workout:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Nausea
  • Fainting
  • Anxiety
  • Rapid Heartbeat

Angry Unicorn Pre-Workout Review Conclusion

Ultimately, we Angry Unicorn pre-workout caught our attention due to its container being very colorful (which you can see from the pictures in this review).

However, the name of this company (Yummy Sports) really undermines it – making it seem more suitable for children, than serious men or women wanting to make changes to their body and lifestyle.

Not only that; the worst thing about Angry Unicorn pre-workout is that it contains Citrus Aurantium; this has shown to cause numerous side effects, and has even been banned in countries. So we’re always surprised when companies still add Citrus Aurantium to their products.

The last point we’ll make, is that Angry Unicorn pre-workout is bad value for money. You can buy much higher quality pre-workouts for less than this product, so we recommend that you look at those instead.
