About The Product
24K is a pre-workout supplement made by Gamma Labs, and comes in 40 serving containers.
It doesn’t say which flavors 24K is available in on their website, so we assume that this is a tasteless pre-workout supplement – whether that’s a good or bad thing will depend on preference.
Who are Gamma Labs?
Gamma Labs are a supplements company that were founded in 2004. They aim to be the “healthiest, msot effective way to enhance athletic performance”.
As of 2017, they market this pre-workout, a testosterone booster, and an energy drink. We like that they’ve kept their product list small, so this should be a quality product – find out below.
24K Ingredients Explained
This has shown to improve your muscular endurance, but it can cause paresthesia (a tingling on the skin of your face and body).
However, we can’t criticize Gamma Labs for lack of research, because they advertise the “tingly sensation” as a good thing – and in all honesty, this is about preference, as some like it and others hate it.
Here’s Everything You Need To Know:
24K contains 3 different types of Creatine:
- Hydrchloride (HCI)
- Magna Power
This is a good thing, as you’ll need over 10,000mg per day to over-dose on it – the overall dosage of Creatine in 24K is just below 3,000mg, which is a good amount.
This ensures you’ll experience increased strength and endurance. However, only Creatine Monohydrate is proven to work in studies conducted with humans.
This is a great ingredient for enhancing your muscle pumps when dosed correctly. This is the problem.
The optimal dosage of Citrulline Malate is 6,000mg; 24K only contains 1,500mg (1.5g), meaning it’s seriously under-dosed here.
Ultimately, this means you’re not likely to experience any boosts in your muscle pumps with 24K pre-workout.
This is believed to improve your muscle pumps – but Arginine is ineffective when orally supplemented.
This is because Arginine has a poor absorption rate. For this reason, Citrulline Malate is the best ingredient to improve your muscle pumps – Gamma Labs should’ve just raised the dosage of Citrulline to 6,000mg.
This is shown to reduce cramping, but doesn’t offer any improvements to your strength or endurance. But it comes with no side effects either.
This ingredient hasn’t shown to offer any benefits at all. But it can cause fishy odors in your breath and sweat – which won’t affect your gym session to be fair.
Caffeine can be a key pre-workout ingredient when dosed correctly (between 150-200mg).
24K contains 300mg, which is a high dosage – his can result in jitters and energy crashes, especially in those who are sensitive to caffeine.
Also known as GMS, this is most used as a thickening agent in such foods as; ice cream, whipped cream and products like oils and waxes.
As you can see, it’s not going to do much to improve your gym session – it’s in here simply to thicken up the drink once the powder is dissolved in water.
Velvet Bean Seed Extract
Also known as Mucuna Pruriens, this has shown to be very effective in boosting your testosterone levels. In fact, it’s in one of our favorite testosterone booster supplements for this reason.
However, a boost in T-Levels isn’t a key benefit of a pre-workout – so this isn’t really needed in 24K (especially as there’s only 20mg of it – you need at least 300mg of Velvet Bean Seed Extract per serving).
This has shown to boost your cognition, but doesn’t offer any other benefit. Also, it’s optimal dosage is at least 175mg (theres only 10mg in 24K, so it’s been seriously under-dosed).
Gamma Labs should’ve replaced this with L-Carnitine, which has shown to reduce fatigue and muscle damage, while improving cognition (focus).
L-Norvaline is mistakenly believed to improve your nitric oxide levels. However, no studies back this up.
This is what 24K is based around. Real Gold – the same you find in jewellery and some alcoholic beverages.
The reason it’s found in alcoholic drinks, is because it’s believed to cut your throat slightly and help the drink enter your system faster. So we imagine that Gamma Labs has added Gold in their pre-workout to make it work faster.
However, there’s no problem with the usual pre-workout time frame of 20-30 minutes before your workout. All this has done, is make it look cooler and increased the price of the product.
Bacopa Leaf Extract
This is another ingredient that’s supposed to improve your cognition. However, there’s only 0.05mg of this inside 24K – you need at least 300mg of this stuff for it to work.
0.05 of any ingredient won’t work – it’s as simple as that, which is the same reason ATP isn’t going to be effective either.

The only concern about 24K, is that it contains a high dosage of Caffeine (300mg), which can cause jitters and energy crashes to those sensitive to this stimulant.
However, we’re not sure whether to call paresthesia (the result of taking Beta-Alanine) as a side effect here – as Gamma Labs has advertised the “tingly sensation” as a benefit of 24K.
Here’s the side effects you might experience with 24K:
- Jitters (High dosage of caffeine over 200mg).
- Energy Crashes (High dosage of caffeine over 200mg).
- Paresthesia – tingling on the skin of your face and body (Beta-Alanine).
24K Review Conclusion
Ultimately, the main attraction to 24K pre-workout is that it contains gold – this is what makes it different to other supplements on the market, and is the reason why it’s named ’24K’.
However, gold provides no benefit to improve your workout – it might help the pre workout work faster than 20-30 minutes, which is the time until pre-workouts work (but if you travel to the gym then this isn’t a good thing).
It’s also very expensive, even compared to other premium pre-workout supplements on the market – 24K costs $69.99 (£56). It’s also missing key pre workout ingredients, and under-dosed one of the best ingredinets (Citrulline Malate).
For this reason, we’re giving 24K a 3 star rating. There are many better pre-workouts available for a better price.
Here’s the best natural pre-workouts on the market for:
- Energy Boosts
- Enhanced Strength & Endurance
- Increased Focus
- Skin-Splitting Muscle Pumps
