About The Product

HYPER-RIPPED is marketed as a thermogenic pre-workout supplement. If you haven’t guessed, this is GNC’s own brand (GNC AMP), priced at $49.99 for 24 serving containers.

So to clear things up, this is a fat burner/pre-workout hybrid product. However, in our honest opinion, we believe that choosing one goal and focusing on that is better than trying to achieve 2 things at once.

For this reason, we personally prefer to choose specialist fat burners and pre-workout supplements. However, we’re here to review HYPER-RIPPED, so we’ll analyze its nutrient profile for you in the next section.

Who are GNC AMP?

As we mentioned, this is GNC’s own brand of supplements and they’ve created numerous products under it. We’ve noticed that none of their products are cheap, so they’re marketed to go head-to-head with the higher-priced supps available – so we always expect great quality.

We know that their protein powders are highly rated, so it’ll be interesting to see whether HYPER-RIPPED can compete with other premium pre-workouts on the market at a similar price.

Let’s see which ingredients have been added below…

HYPER-SHREDDED Ingredients Explained

HYPER-RIPPED contains 5 main ingredients overall; this is great, as we don’t like when companies add unnecessary amounts of ingredients into their products.

From first glance, we’re happy with what we see. Especially as GNC AMP has added a sensible 150mg dosage of Caffeine Anhydrous, which should keep everyone safe from jittery side effects.

However, we will point out that GNC AMP have left out some key fat burner and pre-workout ingredients, such as Green Tea Extract and Creatine Monohydrate.

Anyway, we’ll expand on this as we take you through each ingredient in HYPER-SHREDDED. By the end of this review, you’ll have a good idea of how safe and effective this thermogenic pre-workout really is.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know:

CLA

Also known as ‘Conjugated Linoleic Acid’, this has been used as a ‘fat burner’ ingredient for a long time in supplements. So many people automatically assume that it works without looking into clinical studies.

However, the bad news is that studies show CLA to be a very unreliable ingredient when it comes to fat loss. Not only that, the same studies show that you need at least 3,200mg for CLA to potentially work anyway.

As there’s only 1.7g (1,700mg) added to HYPER-RIPPED, it’s not likely to deliver results here.

L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is a key addition to a pre-workout supplement, and is even useful in fat burners. This is because L-Carnitine is proven to reduce muscular damage & fatigue, while also promoting fat loss slightly too.

For it to work, studies have shown that you need at least 500mg added to supplements. Now, as GNC AMP have added 1g (1,000mg) it should deliver it’s full range of benefits here.

Citrus Sinensis

You’ll see this on HYPER-RIPPED’s nutrient profile listed as ‘Morosil’. It’s basically a patented form of the ‘Citrus Sinensis’ species of oranges, which includes blood orange, sweet orange and naval oranges.

So what does it do? Well, Morosil is believed to help prevent obesity and to help weight management.

But the bad news is that there’s no evidence to prove that it’s effective at encouraging your body to burn body fat. For this reason, while this might be a useful ‘bonus’ addition to HYPER-SHREDDED, it’s certainly not a key one.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine Anhydrous is the best stimulant you can find in supplements, and is a key addition to both fat burners and pre-workouts.

Why? Because in fat burners, Caffeine Anhydrous keeps your energy levels high while you cut calories and (potentially) carbs from your diet. In pre-workouts, Caffeine Anhydrous gives you that ‘kick’ to help you perform at your best in the gym.

So what is Caffeine Anhydrous? Well, ‘Anhydrous’ basically means that Caffeine has been dehydrated into powder form so it can be added to supplements. So it’s the purest form of the stimulant you’ll find.

This is great, as it allows you to keep an eye on your direct Caffeine intake, helping you stay safe from jittery side effects.

Now, we always advise you to choose pre-workouts containing under 200mg Caffeine Anhydrous per serving. So GNC AMP has done a great job by dosing this very sensibly, so everyone should be safe from side effects here.

But one thing we’ll mention, is that GNC AMP could have ensured you avoid jitters further by adding L-Theanine into HYPER-RIPPED too.

Micronised BCAAs

BCAAs are great when taken during a cardio session. But personally, we prefer drinking BCAAs throughout the day or after a heavy weight-lifting session before hitting the cycling machines.

Why? Because they can help your muscles repair and build, and they can even protect them from breaking down after hitting the weights.

For this reason, we don’t believe that BCAAs are a necessary addition to pre-workout supplements; they’re not too expensive to buy separately, or you can even buy whey protein if you’re concerned about building muscle mass.

In our honest opinion, we believe that companies should add nutrients that have a direct benefit to your gym session instead of ingredients such as BCAAs.

Nutrients such as Caffeine Anhydrous have an almost immediate effect on your gym session (by raising your energy levels), and Creatine Monohydrate would have made a much better addition in HYPER-RIPPED here.

Side Effects

On of the best things about HYPER-RIPPED is that none of the ingredients in this thermogenic pre-workout are likely to cause any side effects.

We’ve already mentioned that GNC AMP have done very well in dosing Caffeine Anhydrous sensibly, so you won’t be at risk from jittery side effects. The only issue would be if you’re allergic to oranges, but in fairness, most people won’t be.

HYPER-RIPPED Review Conclusion

HYPER-RIPPED is a respectable pre-workout supplement, and it’s clear that GNC AMP have done their research when formulating this product.

The best thing about HYPER-RIPPED is that it contains a sensible dosage of Caffeine Anhydrous; so many companies over-dose this stimulant, causing their customers to suffer jitters and energy crashes, so this is great to see.

However, it’s lacking the nutrients to be an effective fat burner or pre-workout supplement. The only noticeable benefit HYPER-RIPPED will deliver is an energy boost from the Caffeine Anhydrous, while it’s not likely to promote fat loss at all.
