About The Product

CORE ABCD is an ‘Intra-Workout’ supplement made by Core Nutritionals; meaning you’re supposed to consume this during your workout. The closest category we have to this is pre-workouts, so we’ll keeping in mind it’s meant to be ‘intra-workout’ – ultimately, both pre and intra workout products are designed to do the same thing (improve your workout), so we’ll see whether CORE ABCD works.

It comes at the price of $26.99 for 30 servings, and comes in 3 different flavors; Australian Gummy Snakes, White Grape, and White Pineapple Strawberry. Sounds tasty, but we’ll take a look at the company behind this product before analyzing the ingredients inside.

Who are Core Nutritionals?

Core Nutritionals is a supplements company that was founded by a professional bodybuilding couple. Sounds like a better love story than Twilight, but we were hoping to learn more about this company – such as what year it was founded etc.

Anyway, we didn’t waste anymore time on their website – so we’ll move straight into the ingredients section below.

ABCD Ingredients Explained

We like that CORE ABCD contains 6 ingredients; we’ve seen increasing numbers of pre-workouts (and intra-workouts) containing over 10 ingredients – but we know that the best supplements contain around 6-8 ingredients.

However, we were disappointed to see key ingredients missing from CORE ABCD; such as Creatine Monohydrate, which has proven to boost your strength and endurance during your workout.

But there were some positives with CORE ABCD too – it doesn’t contain any proprietary blends, so you can see the exact dosages of each ingredient inside.

We’ve analyzed CORE ABCD’s ingredients in this section, so you can see how good this product really is.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know:

BCAAs

There are three branched chain amino acids here; L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine & L-Valine. They’ve shown to promote muscle protein synthesis (muscle gains), but we prefer consuming this after a workout, not during it (or before).

Simply put, BCAAs are part of protein powders; studies have shown you’ll experience more benefits consuming this post-workout than pre or intra.

For this reason, we would’ve preferred seeing Creatine Monohydrate here instead (as it’s proven to boost your strength and endurance during your gym session).

Beta-Alanine

This molecule is quite controversial; it’s shown to enhance your muscular endurance, but it comes with a side effect – paresthesia (we’ll explain what this is in the side effects section further down).

We hate to sound like a broken record player, but Creatine Monohydrate offers this benefit without causing any side effects. So we wish that Core Nutritionals had replaced Beta-Alanine with that instead.

L-Carnitine

Now this is an ingredient that’s great to see in a pre-workout (and intra-workout). L-Carnitine has shown to reduce fatigue while improving your focus (strengthening your mind-muscle-connection).

L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is a ‘brain-booster’ ingredient that’s known for it’s ability to improve your cognition. However, it doesn’t offer any other benefit; for this reason, we believe it’s more suited to a Nootropic supplement.

As L-Carnitine & Caffeine in ABCD offer the same benefit (increased focus), there’s no need for L-Tyrosine here.

Choline

Choline is one of the worst ingredients you can find in any supplement. Basically, studies have shown that this doesn’t work…but it causes a strange side effect – fishy odors in your breath and sweat.

It’s not great smelling fishy while you workout, especially when you’re not getting any benefits. For this reason, we try to avoid supplements containing Choline.

This is a great exampleof a ‘filler’ ingredient that companies use to fill their supplement to make it look better than it is (hoping you haven’t done your research).

Caffeine

Caffeine is the best stimulant you can find in any supplement; as it’s consumed everyday in products such as tea & coffee, it’s also one of the safest ingredients on the market.

Simply put, Caffeine is proven to boost your strength, endurance, focus and energy levels in the gym – all key benefits to improve your workout.

However, Core Nutritionals have done something very rare – they’ve under-dosed Caffeine. Usually, companies overdosed this stimulant, which causes side effects such as jitters or energy crashes; but under-dosing Caffeine means it won’t be effective (and won’t work for those very tolerant to this stimulant).

Side Effects

There are 2 concerns with Core Nutritional’s CORE ABCD – the Beta-Alanine and Choline. These 2 ingredients have consistently been reported to cause side effects, which we’ll explain below.

What’s paresthesia?

Paresthesia is a tingling sensation on your face and body – if you know what ‘pins-and-needles’ is, then this is exactly what it feels like, but itchier. Personally, we don’t like this feeling, so we try to avoid supplements containing this ingredient.

Fishy breath and sweat

This is the side effect caused by Choline. Studies have shown that this is common after consuming Choline, and many people have reported this too. For this reason, we avoid supplements containing this ingredient, as it doesn’t offer any benefits.

Here’s the potential side effects after taking CORE ABCD:

  • Paresthesia (Beta-Alanine)
  • Fishy breath and sweat (Choline)

CORE ABCD Review Conclusion

We don’t think ‘intra-workout’ supplements will ever become popular, as they’re simply not needed. If you’re looking for a supplement to improve your gym sessions, then pre-workouts have proven to do this in many studies, and most people know that they work.
