Creatine Hydrichloride is a form of creatine.

It’s believed to be more water soluable than Creatine Monohydrate, but hasn’t shown to be more effective otherwise.

Ultimately, Creatine Hydrochloride isn’t as reliable as Monohydrate in studies, so we’d go for Monohydrate every time.

Creatine Monohydrate

It’s strange that Trace Minerals Research has added this in, with Hydrochloride already inside.

Creatine Monohydrate is the better, more reliable form of creatine – it’s been used by athletes since the 1990’s for good reason.

It works.

Rhodiola Rosea

This is one of our favorite pre-workout ingredients.

It’s proven to reduce fatigue and improve focus – so you can train for longer and make more of every rep.

But here’s the problem – it’s part of a proprietary blend, so it might be in an ineffective dosage.

Beetroot Extract

Another great ingredient inside Clean Pre Workout.

It’s shown to boost nitric oxide levels, which results in better muscle pumps in the gym.

Good ingredient.


L-Arginine is believed to raise nitric oxide levels – but it’s not effective when oraly supplemented.


Answer: Because L-Arginine has a poor absorption rate when orally supplemented, meaning it’s ineffective in a supplement.

This is why Citrulline Malate is better – we’ll expand on this below.


Citrulline Malate 

This is the best ingredient to boost your nitric oxide levels.

How does it work?

Answer: Citrulline Malate converts to L-Arginine in your kidneys.

As it has a good absorption rate, it’s very reliable, which is why it’s better than L-Arginine in a supplement.

But there’s a problem – Citrulline Malate is only effective in dosages between 6,000mg-8,00mg.

As Clean Pre Workout contains under 1250mg (the whole proprietary blend’s quantity is 1250mg), it won’t work here.

Look for a pre-workout containing 6,000mg of Citrulline Malate for enhanced muscle pumps.

Whey Protein Isolate

There’s a reason why most companies don’t add Whey Protein to their pre-workouts…

Because it’s better supplemented separately.

There’s no need for a pre-workout to contain whey protein.

Green Tea

This is an effective fat burning ingredient, but won’t do much in a pre-workout.


Guarana is a stimulant, but isn’t as effective or reliable as Caffeine.

But the main problem is that most ingredients are ineffective. There are a few great ingredients though, which we’ve analyzed above.

These blends can cause side effects, as no-one knows the dosages of each ingredient inside – especially if you’re sensitive to any.

More isn’t always better – and this is shown by Clean Pre Workout by Trace Minerals Research. It has numerous ingredients, but we prefer having fewer in a pre-workout, as long as they’re effective.
