Outbreak Nutrition Pre Workout Review

About The Product

Pathogen is Outbreak Nutrition’s pre-workout released in 2017. It costs $29.99 for around 30 servings and comes in 3 flavors – War-Torn Melon, Agent Orange-Pineapple, and Double Barrel Berry.

Who are Outbreak Nutrition?

Outbreak Nutrition are a supplements company that market their products as if the Apocalypse has happened – which you can see from the picture of Pathogen pre-workout above.

They even call their products “supplements for suvival”. So let’s see if Pathogen will really help you fight zombies and take on the world…

Pathogen Ingredients Explained

We managed to get an exclusive sneak-peak of Outbreak Nutrition’s pre-workout Pathogen, so we’ll see whether it’s worth trying out. It comes in 28 serving containers, with roughly a serving size of

We’ll go through each ingredient inside Pathogen – to how you how good this pre-workout really is.

 Pathogen’s Ingredient List:

  • 5g Citrulline Malate
  • 3.2g Beta Alanine
  • 1000mg AGmass
  • 500mg Choline Bitartrate
  • 350mg Caffeine
  • 125mg Tasteless Teacrine
  • 100mg Theobromine
  • 100mg Juglans Regia

Here’s Everything You Need To Know:

Citrulline Malate

This is one of our favorite pre-workout ingredients, so a good start by Outbreak Nutrition. Basically, it raises your nitric oxide levels which allows more blood to rush to your muscles (enhancing your muscle pumps).

However, there’s a small problem in Pathogen – the optimal dosage for Citrulline Malate is 6,000mg-8,000mg. Unfortunately, this pre-workout only contains 5,000mg, meaning it’s been slightly under-dosed.

For this reason, it might not 100% effective here.

Beta-Alanine

We have very mixed opinions about Beta-Alanine. Basically, it’s able to improve muscular endurance, but also causes paresthesia (see side effects section for more info).

If you don’t mind paresthesia, then it’ll be good – but most people (including us), don’t like this side effect.

AGmass

This is patented form of Agmatine Sulfate – we’re not sure why a company has bothered to patent this, because Agmatine Sulfate’s shown to be ineffective when orally supplemented.

Choline Bitartrate

Another useless ingredient inside Pathogen pre-workout. Simply put, Choline doesn’t offer any benefits, but causes your breath and sweat to smell fishy.

Highest-Rated-Pre-Workouts-This-Year

Caffeine

Caffeine is one of our favorite pre-workout ingredients, and is the best (and safest) stimulant on the market – when dosed under 200mg per serving.

Only those really tolerant to Caffeine will be able to handle over 200mg in 1 serving, without experiencing jitters or energy crashes. As Pathogen contains 350mg, we recommend those sensitive to this stimulant to stay away.

To put this into perspective, 350mg in 1 serving is equal to drinking 4 cups of black coffee at once.

Tasteless Teacrine

Tasteless Teacrine is another stimulant that’s believed to be better than Caffeine in the long term (as it’s believed humans don’t build a tolerance to this).

There’s a 125mg dosage in Pathogen, which would be fine if it was the only stimulant in here. However, add this to the 350mg of Caffeine, and you’ll be sure to experience jitters and energy crashes during your workout.

Theobromine

Outbreak Nutrition need to know when to stop with the stimulants…Theobrome is another added to the already HUGE pile in Pathogen.

With this involved, as well as Caffeine and Teacrine, we’re almost certain you’ll experience unwanted side effect such as jitters, energy crashes and even anxiety.

Juglans Regia

This is a walnut tree found everywhere from the Himakayas to China, and is known as the ‘common walnut’ in the UK. It’s believed to improve your focus in the gym, but doesn’t offer any other benefits to improve your workout.

As Pathogen pre-workout already contains Caffeine (which improves your focus among other things), there’s no need for Juglans Regia here (this ingredient isn’t even proven to work).

Side Effects

Now you’re here, we’ll explain what paresthesia is; Paresthesia is a tingling sensation in your face and body, which is very uncomfortable when trying to focus on your gym session.

We know some people who don’t mind experiencing pareshtesia, but most (including us), find it very distracting. But this isn’t the only side effect you can experience after taking Pathogen.

Basically, Choline is a useless ingredient that’s not proven to do beneficial anything in studies – however, it’s been reported to cause fishy odors in your breath and sweat.

But the big problem with Pathogen, is the HUGE overall dosage of stimulants contained. It contains 3 stimualants (Caffeine, Tasteless Teacrine, and Theobromine), in an overall dosage of 575mg – to put into perspective how big this is, your’re only recommended to consume 400mg of Caffeine in your whole day (24 hours)…

Here’s the potential side effects from taking Pathogen:

  • Paresthesia – tingling on the skin of your face and body (Beta-Alanine)
  • Fishy odors in your breath and sweat (Choline)
  • Jitters (HUGE overall dosage of stimulants)
  • Energy Crashes (HUGE overall dosage of stimulants)
  • Anxiety (HUGE overall dosage of stimulants)
  • Nausea (HUGE overall dosage of stimulants)

Pathogen Review Conclusion

The worst thing about Outbreak Nutrition’s Pathogen the HUGE overall dosage of stimulants inside; there’s simply no need to add 3 different stimulants to 1 pre-workout (Caffeine on it’s own will deliver enough benefits to improve your workout).

For this reason, there’s no way we can recommend you to try this pre-workout – we prefer consuming dosages under 200mg in a pre-workout supplements, to avoid any chances of suffering jitters or energy crashes. In fact, the overall 575mg dosage of stimulants in Pathogen can actually be dangerous to those sensitive to them.
