About The Product

Lightspeed is a fat burner supplement made by Limitless Pharma. It costs $49.99 for 30 serving containers, with a serving size of 1 per day – unusually for a fat burner, it comes in powder form.

We prefer fat burners that provide 3-4 servings per day; this keeps your body topped up with the ingredients it needs to increase your fat burning potential (to shred more body fat).

Who are Limitless Pharma?

Limitless Pharma are a Canadian supplements company. However, apart from that, there wasn’t much more information available on their website.

It seems like a fairly new company, so let’s see whether Lightspeed can help them gain a good reputation.

Lightspeed Ingredients Explained

Lightspeed contains 14 ingredients – which is a lot for a fat burner. As we’ve mentioned, not alot is known about the company behind this fat burner, so hopefully Lightspeed can get into our good books.

Anyway, this is probably the most important section of this review; you can see whether a supplement will be safe or effective by analyzing it’s ingredient list. We’re glad that Limitless Pharma hasn’t hidden any ingredients in proprietary blends, so we’ll give them credit for this.

Not good serving size

We believe the best fat burners contain 5-7 ingredients that’re proven to work, without causing you side effects – in this case, less is more.

That takes us to our next point: Lightspeed contains numerous ingredients that’re shown to cause side effects…

Risk of numerous side effects

There are 4 ingredients that’re commonly reported to cause side effects in Lightspeed. In fact, we try to avoid supplements containing them, so it’ll be useful for you to read our analysis of this fat burner’s ingredients.

Remember that there are ingredients that are effective without causing side effects – so there’s no excuse for a company to add those that can cause you potential harm.

Is this a fat burner or pre-workout?

After taking a quick look at Lightspeed’s ingredient list, we’re confused whether Limitless Pharma have designed this to be a pre-workout or a fat burner.

We assumed it was a fat burner, as it say’s ‘Hardcore Fat Burner’ on the packaging (as you can see from the image above) – but there are numerous ingredients that are more commonly seen in pre-workouts, such as L-Tyrosine.

Anyway, we’ll take a deeper look at each ingredient inside Lightspeed – to show you how effective this fat burner really is.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know:

L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is a ‘brain-booster’ ingredient that’s shown to improve your cognition – for this reason, it’s one of our favorite ingredients in nootropic supplements.

However, it doesn’t promote fat loss or offer any benefit you’d buy a fat burner for – meaning it’s an ineffective ingredient in Lightspeed.

Not a good start by Limitless Pharma here.

Caffeine

This is our favorite stimulant in both fat burners and pre-workout supplements; Caffeine is the safest stimulant on the market, and everyone knows it boosts your energy levels (which is helpful when you’re cutting calories and body fat).

It’s consumed on a daily basis in products such as tea & coffee – and it’s only when you drink too much, that you experience side effects such as jitters. Well, this is the same for fat burners – if it contains too much Caffeine, then it can also cause jitters and energy crashes.

If Lightspeed had 3-4 servings per day, the Caffeine dosage would be split up – which would ensure your safety from side effects. However, as it comes with 1 serving per day, you’ll be consuming the full 200mg in 1 dosage (increasing your risk of jitters and energy crashes).

For this reason, it’s important to always check the Caffeine dosage in supplements.

DMAA

DMAA is a stimulant that’s similar in structure to Ephedrine, and is used in pre-workout supplements and fat burners for this reason. However, as of 2017, DMAA has been banned from supplements by the FDA in the USA.

They’ve released an official statement: “Ingestion of DMAA can elevate blood pressure and lead to cardiovascular problems ranging from shortness of breath and tightening in the chest, to heart attack”.

For this reason, we avoid any supplement containing DMAA – and we recommend you to do the same.

White Willow Extract

This is taken from the bark of the White Willow tree, and is used as medicine to treat headaches, muscle pain, muscular cramps and arthritis.

As a result, it might reduce cramping in the gym – but it’s not shown to deliver any benefits to improve your gym sessions (meaning it’s ineffective in Lightspeed fat burner).

Grains of Paradise

This is a type of chilli pepper that’s found in West Africa; this is a good thing, as chilli peppers are thermogenics (meaning they raise your body temperature, which raises your metabolism – encouraging your body to burn more fat as fuel).

However, there hasn’t been enough research on Grains of Paradise for it to be reliable or safe. For this reason, we always stick to what we know – Cayenne Pepper has proven to be both safe and effective, so there’s no need to fix something that’s not broken.

Matcha Green Tea Powder

This is a great fat burning ingredient that’s proven to work – it’s finely grounded green tea, which has shown to promote fat loss in countless studies.

In fact, it’s been used for centuries in East Asia, as it’s known for benefitting almost every organ in your body too. There’s nothing bad about Green Tea Extract (or Matcha Green Tea Powder), and it’s proven to work.

Synephrine

Synephrine is one of the ingredients we stay away from – basically, it’s been reported to cause numerous side effects, as we’ve had bad experiences after consuming Synephrine too.

For this reason, it’s been banned in the UK – we recommend you to avoid any supplement that’s been banned in a certain country, as these ingredients don’t just get banned for no reason.

Higenamine

Higenamine is a plant that’s believed to treat asthma – but studies have shown that it doesn’t promote fat loss. As a result, it’s an ineffective ingredient inside Lightspeed fat burner.

Hordenine

This compound is believed to promote fat loss, but studies have shown that it’s not very effective; meaning it’s useless in fat burner supplements.

Hordenine is actually a common ingredient in both fat burners and pre-workouts – so it’s worth knowing that it doesn’t work.

Cayenne Pepper Extract

As we mentioned with Grains of Paradise, Cayenne Pepper Extract raises your metabolism – allowing your body to use body fat as fuel.

It’s proven to work, and you’ve probably experienced sweating after eating spicy food. For this reason, it’s one of our favorite ingredients in any fat burner supplement.

Grapefruit Extract

This is nothing special; it’s simply extracted from Grapefruit, a fairly popular fruit used in salads and desserts. It hasn’t shown to promote fat loss, so it’s not very useful in Lightspeed either.

Huperzine A

Huperzine A is on our blacklist of ingredients to avoid in fat burners. Simply put, it’s been reported to cause numerous side effects when consumed in supplements – and we’ve even had bad experiences with Huperzine A ourselves.

This is why we try to avoid fat burners containing this ingredient.

Black Pepper Extract

This isn’t a key ingredient in any supplement, but it’s a good bonus ingredient to have; Black Pepper Extract has proven to boost the absorption rate of supplements it’s consumed with.

Yohimbe

Yohimbe is also an ingredient on our blacklist of ingredients to avoid; simply put, it’s been banned in numerous countries after causing harmful side effects. We’ve also tested supplements containing Yohimbe and experienced unwanted side effects too.

For this reason, we recommend you to avoid any fat burners with Yohimbe inside.

Side Effects

There are 4 ingredients that can cause side effects in Limitless Pharma’s Lightspeed – DMAA, Synephrine, Huperzine A, and Yohimbe (with 3 of these being banned in numerous countries as a result).

We’ve tested supplements that contain Syneprhine, Huperzine A and Yohimbe ourselves; we suffered from side effects which we’ll list below, which is why we recommend you to avoid them too.

As the FDA strongly recommend that you avoid DMAA, we’ve never tried supplements containing it before – but we’ve seen many reports about it causing side effects. Remember that there’s fat burners that contain ingredients that’re both safe and effective (so there’s no need to take supplements that can make you feel like sh*t).

Here’s the potential side effects from taking Lightspeed:

  • Rapid Heartbeat (DMAA)
  • High Blood Pressure (DMAA, Yohimbe)
  • Nausea (Synephrine, Huperzine A, Yohimbe)
  • Anxiety (Synephrine, Huperzine A, Yohimbe)
  • Upset Stomach (Yohimbe)

Lightspeed Ingredients Explained

At the start of the review, we wondered whether Lightspeed could help gain Limitless Pharma a good reputation. Well, the answer is: No, it won’t.

This company has shown it’s done some research in terms of ingredients – adding some key ingredients such as Green Tea Extract (Matcha), Cayenne Pepper Extract & Caffeine. However, they’ve also displayed their inexperience in the industry, by adding potentially harmful ingredients (DMAA, Huperzine A, Yohimbe & Synephrine).

Not only that, Limitless Pharma have shown their inexperience by not adding an ineffective serving size in Lightspeed; simply put, a fat burner needs 3-4 servings per day, so your body is always topped up with key fat burning ingredients for it to work. Lightspeed only offers 1 daily serving, which will only stay in your system for a couple of hours (making it ineffective).
