About The Product

Gamer UP is a nootropic supplement made by Controlled Labs. It costs $57.99 on their website for 30 servings, and unusually comes in powder form (nootropics commonly come in capsules).

We prefer capsules with nootropic supplements, as it takes away the issue of taste - this is advertised as bubble gum flavor, but it didnt taste very good. Not only that, you can swallow a capsule anywhere - with powder, you have to mix it with water before drinking it (not ideal if youre in a rush).

Anyway, well tell you about the company behind Gamer UP, before analyzing the ingredients inside this nootropic.

Who are Controlled Labs?

Controlled Labs are a supplements company that markets numerous products; they seem to specialize in pre-workouts, and are quite well known for these.

However, there wasnt much more information on their website. So lets move onto the ingredients section below.

Gamer UP Ingredients Explained

Gamer UP contains 8 main ingredients, which is a good amount to have in a nootropic. However, well be looking at whether theyre safe and effective, or whether they cause side effects.

But from first glance, were happy that Gamer UP doesnt contain any proprietary blends…

Whats a proprietary blend?

Simply put, these blends are mixtures of numerous ingredients thatre shown to you as 1 quantity - meaning you dont know the exact dosage inside.

This increases your risk of side effects, and also the chances of the supplement being ineffective (and therefore a waste of money). But as weve mentioned, there are no proprietary blends in Game UP, so this gets the thumbs up here.

Anyway, well take you through each ingredient inside Gamer UP - to show you how effective this nootropic really is.

Heres Everything You Need To Know:

This ingredient is commonly found in pre-workout supplements, as its mistakenly believed to improve energy levels (as its found in energy drinks). Although studies have shown that Taurine doesnt provide energy boosts, it can reduce cramping.

But it wont offer any benefits by being inside Gamer UP, a nootropic thats sold to improve your cognition. For this reason, we consider Taurine ineffective here.

Now this is an ingredient worth talking about in a nootropic. Its proven to boost your focus when orally supplemented in these supplements, making it one of our favorite additions to nay nootropic.

No problems here - so good job by Controlled Labs.

Lions Mane Mushroom

This is possibly our #1 favorite ingredient in nootropics, as you dont find this in other forms of supplements. Basically, this is an edible mushroom thats proven to improve your cognition when consumed in dosages of 500mg.

Controlled Labs have dosed Lions Mane Mushroom perfectly here (at 500mg per serving), so youll be sure to experience its benefits. Not only that, this mushroom has even shown to reduce anxiety, which will help keep you calm under pressure - perfect for a nootropic.

Bacopa Monnieri

This is a herb thats known for being able to improve your cognition - and its proven to work in numerous studies. However, theres one thing bad about this key nootropic ingredient; Bacopa Monnieri tastes bad when consumed in powder form.

This explains why Gamer UP doesnt taste good - and why prefer nootropic supplements in capsules.

Caffeine is the best stimulant you can find in supplements, and one of our favorite ingredients in both fat burners and pre-workouts. However, its not needed in a nootropic - as these products are simply designed to improve your cognition.

While Caffeine has shown to benefit your focus, its main benefit is raising your energy levels; we prefer getting our caffeine intake from coffee during office hours, so having 125mg caffeine from a nootropic could cause jitters or energy crashes (which would be counterproductive to our professions).

For this reason, we believe nootropics dont need Caffeine (or any other stimulants either).

This compound is believed to improve your cognition and even power output - which is why its also a popular addition to pre-workout supplements.

However, weve experienced numerous side effects when taking nootropics containing Alpha-GPC before, so we try to avoid it when we can. There are ingredients that can improve your cognition without causing side effects (such as Rhodiola Rosea, which we prefer).

This is a natural antioxidant found in eggs - but it hasnt shown to offer any benefits to improve your cognition. Its good for your general health, but if we wanted this benefit, we wouldve bought multi-vitamins, not a nootropic.

For this reason, Lutein isnt needed in Gamer UP.

Toothed Clubmoss (Huperzine A)

This is a plant containing Huperzine A - which is an ingredient we try to avoid, as its caused numerous side effects before. While this plant can improve your cognition, theres no point suffering side effects for it.

As weve mentioned already, Rhodiola Rosea would be a much better option here - its a shame Controlled Labs added Huperzine A instead in Gamer UP.

Side Effects

There are 2 ingredients that have been reported to cause side effects in Gamer UP - Huperzine A & Alpha-GPC. For this reason, we try to avoid supplements containing these ingredients - theres no need to suffer side effects when there are safe and effective ingredients available.

We experienced some side effects when taking Gamer UP ourselves, and we believe this was due to the nootropic containing Huperzine A & Alpha-GPC. We also complained about the taste, which will be caused by Bacopa Monnieri (this is one of our favorite nootropic ingredient, but its much better in capsules - so you dont have to taste it).

Heres the potential side effects from taking Gamer UP:

  • Nausea (Huperzine A)
  • Diarrhea (Huperzine A)
  • Loss of Appetite (Huperzine A)
  • Heartburn (Alpha-GPC)
  • Headache (Alpha-GPC)
  • Insomnia (Alpha-GPC)

Gamer UP Review Conclusion

Ultimately, its clear that Gamer UP was designed for those who enjoy playing video games past their bedtime. This is why this nootropic contains Caffeine, which will help keep them awake, even when theyre tired.

However, in terms of being a general nootropic supplement, its not bad either - if it didnt contain Huperzine A or Alpha-GPC, it would have battling with our favorite nootropic supplement on the market - which shows you how much potential Gamer UP has.
