Best Fat Burner for Intermittent Fasting 2020

Protect your muscle mass while accelerating fat loss with the right fat burner supplement

Looking for quicker results with fat loss?

Intermittent fasting is something that can really help you achieve the lean or shredded look you want to achieve.

Countless clinical studies have shown intermittent fasting to work.

Check out this conclusion in a study conducted in 2018 to see that we’re not just making stuff up like other websites[1]:

“four studies found that intermittent fasting was effective for short-term weight loss among normal weight, overweight and obese people.”

However, one thing at risk when aiming to cut body fat is muscle mass. It can be difficult to keep hold of your hard-earned muscle gains while you achieve a calorie deficit…

..a calorie deficit, of course, being crucial to fat loss.

Here’s where an effective fat burner can come in.

The right fat burner will contain nutrients that are proven to protect your muscle mass while you cut body fat or weight. As well as including tried-and-tested thermogenics to further encourage your body to target body fat loss.

In this article, we’ll show you which ingredients in fat burner supplements are a perfect compliment to an intermittent fasting diet.

As an added bonus, we’ve also found the best fat burner for intermittent fasting, to help save you time and get you to your results faster – without any BS inbetween.

Best Fat Burner Ingredients for Intermittent Fasting

Let’s start with the basics.

The basics being the ingredients you want to look for when choosing a safe and effective fat burner supplement.

Why?

Because the ingredients in a supplement are like the engine of a car. If the engine is rusty or damaged, you don’t want to buy that car.

Similarly, you want a fat burner that contains tried-and-tested nutrients that are proven to promote fat loss – without any side effects.

But the most important thing while intermittent fasting is protecting your muscle mass while encouraging your body to burn more fat.

Here are the best ingredients for doing exactly as described above:

Best for Ingredient for Muscle Mass Protection: HMB

Short for β-Hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate, HMB is a metabolite of leucine. Leucine being the most important branched chain amino acid (BCAA) when it comes to preserving and building muscle mass.

So, straight away, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that HMB can be useful in protecting muscle mass while you’re cutting body fat during a diet.

So what makes it more beneficial than leucine?

You’re probably wondering the exact question above.

Well, Leucine is actually more beneficial when it comes to muscle protein synthesis (in simple terms, gaining muscle mass).

However, HMB has shown to be better at reducing the rate of muscle protein breakdown in clinical studies [1]. Which makes it more important while you’re aiming to cut body fat levels.

Bottom Line: HMB is key to preserving muscle mass while you’re in a calorie deficit with diets such as the intermittent fasting diet. But when you’re in a calorie surplus and aiming to gain muscle mass, we recommend taking BCAAs instead.

Promotes Fat Loss Without loss of Muscle Mass: Coleus Forskohlii

Coleus Forskohlii is a relatively new addition to fat burner supplements.

It’s basically a herb that’s been used in traditional ayurvedic medicine for a very long time. It’s often associated with it’s ability to induce fat loss and reduce fatigue.

But here’s what makes Coleus Forskohlii particularly effective during an intermittent fasting diet; it’s shown to significantly decrease body fat percentages in human subjects, without any reductions in lean body mass in clinical studies [2].

In plain terms, the above means that Coleus Forskohlii can help you lose body fat without saying goodbye to any muscle gains. Exactly what we’re looking for in a fat burner to take while intermittent fasting.

Bottom Line: There’s been enough clinical studies showing the beneficial link between loss of body fat and preservation of lean muscle mass with Coleus Forskohlii. To make it a key addition to any fat burner you take while in a calorie deficit.

Best All-Round Thermogenic to Promote Fat Loss: Cayenne Pepper Extract

What do you do when you want to add some spice to your food?

You add some chili powder.

The thing that makes chili peppers such as Cayenne Peppers spicy (capsaicin) is exactly what makes them effective thermogenics; in a nutshell, for those that don’t know, thermogenics are nutrients that can raise your body temperature and encourage your body to burn more body fat and calories.

Even if you don’t look at the science behind how Cayenne Pepper Extract can promote body fat, it’s pretty obvious that it works.

But we know that you (our loyal readers) often ask us for proof via clinical studies, so of course, we’ll include some for you.

One study by Zheng J published in 2017 [3] concluded:

“In summary, capsaicin plays a critical role in human and has multiple benefits for metabolic health, especially for weight loss”

The above reference should be enough to convince you.

But just in case, a different study conducted by Rodgers J in 2018 [4] found that there was a significant difference in fat loss results between 2 groups: 1 group that supplemented capsaicin (that lost more body fat), and a second group that was provided with a placebo.

Best Fat Burner to Buy while Intermittent Fasting 2020

We’ve shown you the ingredients you need to be looking for when searching for a safe and effective fat burner. To help compliment your intermittent fasting diet regime.

Well, to save you even more time…we’ve found, tried-and-tested what we believe to be the best fat burner for intermittent fasting available on the market.

How did we choose?

You don’t choose an American Football player to play professional Soccer. They might do okay, since they are elite athletes – but Tom Brady isn’t going to be better than Lionel Messi at Soccer.

It’s always best to choose a supplement specialized in doing something specific. Such as intermittent fasting.

That’s why it’s not the best idea to choose a ‘normal’ fat burner while you’re intermittent fasting.

Good news: we found a fat burner that’s specifically been created to support intermittent fasting diets.

Check it out:

Performance Lab® Fat Burner

A bottle of Performance Lab Fat Burner for intermittent fasting

Visit: www.performancelab.com

First opinions are very important. And the good news is that the clinical looking box and bottle of Performance Lab Fat Burner looked premium, safe and effective.

At a price of $50 per bottle, it’s certainly not the cheapest fat burner on the market. So, it’s good that it looks the part.

Performance Lab® haven’t cut costs with this fat burner.

It contains only premium grade ingredients, such as Capsimax® (a highly potent, patented form of Cayenne Pepper Extract). As well as patented Forslean®, which is commonly acknowledged as the best form of Coleus Forskohlii available.

In fact, even the capsules that the ingredients come in are made from Performance Lab’s patented prebiotic fiber capsules (Nutricaps®). Meaning even its capsules are beneficial.

These Nutricaps® are much better than the usual gelatin/cellulose or HPMC cheaper capsules that other companies use.

And most importantly, Performance Lab® Fat Burner was specifically made to be the perfect compliment to an intermittent fasting diet.

For this reason it contains our dream combination of HMB, Cayenne Pepper Extract, Coleus Forskohlii – as well as Black Pepper Extract to help improve its bio-availability (absorption and digestion).

Here are Performance Lab® Fat Burner’s ingredients:

Performance Lab Fat Burner Supplement Facts

Serving Size: 2 Nutricaps® Capsules
Servings per Container: 30

  • Coleus Forskohlii (Forslean®) – 250mg
  • HMB – 1000mg
  • Cayenne Pepper Extract (Capsimax®) – 50mg
  • Black Pepper Extract (BioPerine®) – 2.5mg

As you can see above, there are optimal dosages of each ingredient in this fat burner.

For example, studies have shown that it’s safe to consume upwards of 3000mg of HMB [6], while Performance Lab Fat Burner contains an effective (and certainly safe) 1000mg HMB dosage per serving.

Bonus Supplement to Stack with a Fat Burner: BCAAs

We mentioned briefly, earlier in this article, that Leucine (a branched chain amino acid) can be more useful than HMB when you’re aiming to build muscle mass.

Well, as a bonus to ‘stack’ with a fat burner, BCAAs can be perfect. Alongside HMB supplementation, BCAAs will further ensure that your muscle mass is protected…

…so while you cut down on body fat, you’ll make sure to be left with a lean, toned frame that you’ll be happy with on the beach.

And for the record, BCAAs have actually shown to be useful in the preservation and recovery of muscle mass.

Especially in those that take part in resistance exercises like weight lifting. Such as in a clinical study by Howatson G [5], which concluded:

“BCAA administered before and following damaging resistance exercise reduces indices of muscle damage and accelerates recovery in resistance-trained males”

Performance Lab BCAA

Visit: www.performancelab.com

You can, of course, choose any BCAA to ‘stack’ alongside Performance Lab Fat Burner.

However, since Performance Lab has made their range intentionally so that they can be ‘stacked together’ safely and effectively, it makes sense to choose their BCAA.

What makes this BCAA better than others?

At $30 per bottle (30 servings), it’s not the cheapest BCAA on the market. The good news is that it’s the highest quality BCAA out there.

I bet you didn’t know that the cheapest BCAAs on the market can be made from human/animal hair, or duck feathers. Yep, we’re really not joking. It’s disgusting isn’t it.

In fact, even the cheap BCAAs listed as ‘vegan friendly’ can be made from human hair…we didn’t make the rules.

So, we avoid the cheap BCAAs. And you probably should do, too.

Performance Lab® BCAA is sourced from fermented sunflower lecithin

For this reason, Performance Lab® BCAA is probably the cleanest BCAA on the market.

Made exclusively from fermented sunflower lecithin. Making it actually vegan-friendly and more bioavailable than other sources of BCAAs.

And like the rest of Performance Lab’s range, the capsules that its BCAAs come in are made from their patented prebiotic fiber (Nutricaps®) capsules. Making them much better than other cheap vegan capsules out there.

Performance Lab® BCAA Supplement Facts Label

Serving Size: 4 Nutricaps®
Servings per Container: 30
Total BCAA: 3000mg

  • L-Leucine – 1500mg
  • L-Isoleucine – 750mg
  • L-Valine – 750mg

The most important part is that the BCAAs are presented in the ‘golden’ 2:1:1 (leucine:Isoleucine:Valine) ratio [7] that’s shown to be optimal. This is the same ratio that naturally occurs in your muscles.

Ultimately, ‘stacking’ Performance Lab’s BCAA with their Fat Burner while intermittent fasting will give your body the best chance possible of maintaining muscle mass, while you cut calories and body fat.

My Personal Favorite Intermittent Fasting Method

There are many different ways to succeed with Intermittent Fasting.

I personally struggled with most methods. For example, fasting for 2 days out of 7 in the week is simply not viable long-term.

But the one I saw results with, and can continue sustainably by fitting into my lifestyle, is the 16/8 method.

The 16/8 Intermittent Fasting Method

As mentioned, this is the most sustainable intermittent fasting method (in my honest opinion).

The quick summary is that you basically fast all night and skip breakfast. It’s as easy as that.

Here are the specifics:

  • Fast for 16 hours, with an eating window of 8 hours.
  • I have my first meal at around 12 (midday at lunch).
  • I have my last meal by 8pm and stop eating at this time.
  • Sleep and repeat daily

It’s definitely the most ‘non-extreme’ version of intermittent fasting that you can follow. And even celebrities such as Terry Crews has seen benefits from the 16/8 method.

As you can see from my 8 week transformation picture further above, the 16\8 method along with Performance Lab Fat Burner and BCAA worked for me.

Best Fat Burner for Intermittent Fasting: Conclusion

Ultimately, losing body fat is down to being in a calorie deficit. That’s the truth without any BS there.

However, being in a calorie deficit isn’t as simple as it seems; it comes with a whole host of problems, one of which is putting your hard-earned muscle mass at risk from being lost in the process.

That’s really where fat burners can come into play.

If you choose one (like Performance Lab Fat Burner) that contains an optimal dosage of HMB – which has shown to help reduce muscle protein breakdown (muscle loss) – then it’ll certainly be useful during an intermittent fasting diet.

HMB consumed alongside other tried-and-tested nutrients found in Performance Lab Fat Burner (Cayenne Pepper Extract and Coleus Forskohlii) will further encourage your body to burn fat at a quicker rate than it would naturally.

But remember. If you’re not in a calorie deficit, then no supplement or diet will help you.

Should you be in a calorie deficit, follow the 16/8 intermittent fasting diet and take the right fat burner. Then you’ll give yourself the best chance of success.
